Awka Millennium City (AMC) is the first smart city in South-East Nigeria - conceived, engineered, and delivered entirely by M-P Infrastructure. Sited on 110 hectares in Awka, Anambra State, this master-planned, mixed-use development reflects MPI’s bold vision for the future of urban living in Nigeria. Strategically located near the proposed Three-Arms Zone, AMC combines residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, religious, and recreational zones, seamlessly integrated through smart, sustainable infrastructure. Every detail of the project was designed to promote elevated living, long-term value, and city-scale functionality.
The Journey
What began in 2019 as an expanse of bushland and swamp, undeveloped, neglected, and riddled with environmental challenges was completely transformed by MPI. We saw potential where others saw obstacles, and we brought that vision to life.
Through a robust Public-Private Partnership with the Anambra State Government, MPI led every aspect of delivery: from master planning and engineering to construction and commercialization.
Utilities
Power
MPI delivered a fully independent power system for AMC, anchored by a dedicated 33kV line, a private substation, and 40 kilometers of low-voltage underground cabling serving all 764 plots. We powered the streets with solar lighting and backed it all with generator systems to ensure uninterrupted energy 24/7.
Water
We built a municipal-scale water network from scratch, including 2 million liters of storage, treatment facilities, irrigation tanks, and a 22-kilometer pipeline distributing clean water directly to each home. It’s a city where reliable water is built-in, not added on.
Security
We enclosed the entire city with a 4-kilometer perimeter fence integrated with intruder detection, biometric access points, CCTV surveillance, and a centralized control center. Residents enjoy peace of mind in a city engineered for protection.
Green Spaces
True to our commitment sustainability , we developed four recreational parks complete with gardens, walkways, and sports zones. These spaces serve not just as amenities, but as anchors for wellness, connection, and community life.
Roads and Drainage
We opened up access with the construction of a 2-kilometer dual carriageway from the Enugu-Onitsha expressway. Internally, we laid 22 kilometers of paved roads complete with walkways and integrated underground drainage. Beneath every stretch, we embedded conduits for power, water, and fiber-optic connectivity—future-proofing the city from the ground up.
A City of Districts, A Model for Expansion
At every stage, we intentionally designed a smart city built as a network of premium districts, each crafted with purpose and precision, namely AMC I, AMC II, Millennium Court & Millenium Enclave.
The success of AMC I, a 110-hectare masterplan, led to the creation of AMC II, a 36-hectare expansion featuring residential, commercial, and utility plots. AMC II builds on the same infrastructure excellence, with Phase 1 fully completed and Phase 2 underway.
Within AMC I, key zones like Business Drive, Millennium Boulevard, and East Drive cater to varying lifestyles, from commercial vibrancy to ultra-luxury living. Gated clusters like Millennium Court (fully sold out) and Millennium Enclave (opening 2026) offer exclusive, move-in-ready residences.
The Result
Awka Millennium City today stands as a living proof of MPI’s capacity to deliver vision at scale. From swamp to smart city in five years, AMC is now a thriving, secure, fully serviced environment where lifestyle meets investment. Early subscribers have seen property values multiply, because we didn’t just build infrastructure; we built lasting value.
Driven by high demand and investment success, the Awka Millennium City model is now being prepared for rollout across other Nigerian states, marking the beginning of a broader smart city vision, powered by MPI.
